Rural Urban Synthesis Society (RUSS) is growing and is looking to recruit an operations director, and also a new chair, to help it deliver its first housing development at Church Grove, Lewisham, as well as keeping an eye on the operations of the growing company.
RUSS now has a team of trustees, over 700 members, consultants and advisors, and needs support to manage a range of stakeholders and ensure community ownership as it brings on its £8.6 million, 33-home Church Grove site.
The operational director role requires operations and project leadership, governance, financial management, appointments and contract management, compliance and risk, as well as reporting and stakeholder engagement.
At Church Grove the community has led the development of the scheme, which is made up of one- to four-bed homes with a mixture of tenures, including affordable rent, social rent and shared ownership.
Consequently, RUSS is keen to encourage applications from members of the BAME community and women for applications, to reflect the diversity of the local population. Equally, it’s happy to consider a co-chair arrangement to make time commitments manageable.
It goes without saying that RUSS is looking for a candidate that embodies its values of sustainability, community and affordability, and who has empathy with cohousing.
In addition, RUSS has a commitment to training, and recently ran an innovative crowd-fund to raise £57,000 to support it to build its Knowledge Hub.
